Transition and Continuity at DMC Accounting + Technology, a word from our new president, Chip Herzog

"Small businesses account for three-quarters of all new jobs in this country and embody the spirit of innovation, entrepreneurship and individual initiative."

- Quote from the Mission Statement of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Small Business Nation.

It is often written that small businesses have been and continue to be the engine of growth for the U.S. economy. Even with our recent economic doldrums, small businesses have generated 64% of net new jobs over the past 15 years and account for 50% of our non-farm GDP.

I am proud to say that I have become part of this dynamic economic force, having just acquired ownership of DMC Accounting + Technologies from its founder, Doris M. Cahill. Not only have I become a participant in the world of small businesses, but, more importantly, through DMC, now I will be providing services to small and mid-size businesses and will be able to use my and DMC’s experience to help strengthen their viability.

What’s really exciting is that Doris will be staying with the Company, using her time to focus on client services, marketing and education. She will continue to bring a level of experience and expertise to our clients that would be hard to match anywhere, solving knotty accounting and systems problems, as well as guiding management with advice on enterprise system purchases and implementations.

Going forward, my plan is to look for new opportunities for DMC to add value to both existing and new clients, while maintaining the standards and level of quality that have established DMC as a premier provider of accounting and technical services.

A little about me: I have over 20 years of progressive financial management and leadership experience, beginning at United Technologies Corporation and most recently at Boston Scientific Corporation. I’ve been a business unit controller, headed up the finance operations of a large division, ran a corporate financial planning department and was vp of finance for a multi- division global business. I graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a B.A. in Economics and earned an MBA from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration.

Throughout all my varied roles, the common thread has been my thorough enjoyment of providing financial and business direction to management, utilizing financial and operational data to glean insights and offer views of where to derive improvement. The opportunity to now support our DMC clients (current and future) is my new challenge, and I am tremendously excited to be embarking on this journey
