Message from Doris:
In Einstein's theory of General Relativity we are taught that relativity uses
the mathematics of differential geometry and tensors in order to describe gravitation
as an effect of the geometry of spacetime. This theory is based on the general principle
of relativity, which requires all observers to experience the same laws of physics…With
out this very pertinent knowledge base, we would all be very confused as to how
the world works.
Accounting on the other hand can be defined in two ways:
- Accounting is the art of recording, classifying, and summarizing in a significant
manner and in terms of money, transactions, and events which are, in part at least,
of a financial character, and interpreting the results thereof.
- Accounting is a service or activity. Its function is to provide quantitative information,
primarily financial in nature, about economic entities that is intended to be useful
in making decisions and in making reasoned choices among alternative courses of
action.
Either way you look at it, accounting is relative to the success of your business
and DMC is the company that can get you on the right financial path. Whether you
are a start-up business or a veteran in the game, if you do not have the right infrastructure
the walls will eventually tumble down, and all will be lost.
Much like we would find it impossible to comprehend a world without Einstein’s theories
for understanding the gravitational force, it would be equally as hard to operate
a business world with out even the most basic accountancy structures. Because the
staff members at DMC are certified in today’s most popular software's including
MYOB, MasterBuilder, QuickBooks, Deltek, and much more, there is no way that your
business can afford to go on with out us on your team.
Choosing an Accounting Software Program for your Business:
You are faced with the task of choosing an accounting software program that will
fit your company’s needs. Whichever program you choose, it ought to serve the life
of your company, the consultants at DMC Accounting + Technology can lead you in this direction.
Consider the following factors while reviewing your current investment options:
Growth is a goal of every business owner and accounting software should be able
to keep up. Without appropriate upgrade options, you will be forced to convert to
a stronger program, creating unnecessary costs and conflicts down the road. Never
lose sight of how much your company will be expanding and what that expansion means.
Does expansion mean greater inventories, opening new locations, and hiring new employees?
Many software packages come with discounted upgrade options to suit these possibilities.
Basic bookkeeping features should be user-friendly.
Purchase orders, sales orders, invoices and checks will likely need to be customized.
Your software should have the ability to add new fields and commands at your simple
request. For example, your sales orders may need to attach a control number to the
purchaser’s full name and address for quick reference, some programs require programming
knowledge in order to execute this. Configuring these templates and programs can
be tricky at times but the consultants at DMC Accounting + Technology are here to help you understand
these formulas.
The setup and maintenance of your accounting software plays an important role in
productivity. Your computing environment should match the diagnostics suggested
by the software program; if not, even basic tasks will take too much time. Most
Windows packages need at least 150Mb of free disk space and 32Mb of RAM to run smoothly.
Furthermore, if you choose to integrate multi-user licenses you may be required
to use a separate server to host the data. Consider using one of our IT consultants
to review your current system prior to choosing a program that could slow down your
company.
As we all know, budgets are often tight in the beginning, but setting up a structure
to allow growth will save you hundreds if not thousands. Remember, there are countless
accounting packages offered in today’s market, but DMC Accounting + Technology is always willing
to show you each package and what it has to offer through unbiased software demonstrations.
Success is on the Horizon
It has been an exciting summer here at DMC. We’ve had plenty of good surprises and
are happy to add some more knowledge and expertise to our repertoire. With each
new project comes a new set of challenges and thanks to the diverse and numerous
skills possessed by our staff, we are able to rise to the occasion.
This summer brought our first client in Wisconsin, and although we may never get
to meet her in person we’re glad she called us when she needed some help with MYOB!
We’re more than happy to take clients from around the country and enjoy expanding
our network into the Midwest. A little closer to home, in New Hampshire, we’re helping
implement Master Builder for an impressive company. Rising gas prices won’t stop
us from broadening our client base and taking on another implementation.
We’re working for some of our long-term clients on some interesting projects as
well. Linking Advantage and ADP payroll has helped a large firm get one step closer
to their automation goals for the summer. We’ve also been busy helping to rebuild
a client’s dataset from the ground up. The DMC staff has pulled together as a team
and has made impressive progress on such a daunting task.
Using our network to serve our clients’ individual needs has also kept us quite
busy. We’ve introduced a number of you to FAS, our fixed asset software of choice.
Expanding our clients’ software options and thus expanding the possibilities for
their business remains a priority for us. The knowledge we’ve gained in 10 years
can be priceless and we’re always willing to give an unbiased opinion on what you
can do to make your accounting software work for you.Lastly, we’re working on making
our user groups bigger and better than ever.
